In Your Hands techniques are not about learning in the usual sense.
Some techniques like Spinal Touch have particular hand sequences that need to be followed, but even these are quite simple. Others courses are essentially about removing any blocks to ‘tuning-in’. Hand positions are suggested, after this it becomes a matter of your intuition. Think about how a parent would ‘know’ how to comfort their baby.

The techniques that are passed on by Joanna include what she has learned over the years working with many hundreds of patients. Ways to ‘tune in’ to someone’s body, and ways to help align both them and yourself to the universal energy that is available to us all. The work is mostly about being still, and allowing change, release and healing to take place. We are not the doer: we are the witness to change. Generally the less we can learn to do, the more effective will be our intervention.

Listening with the hands is a helpful metaphor for some. If you have a friend who is worried about something, often, just listening can give them the freedom to move on. It is the same with the body. Listening with the hands allows old patterns held within the body to begin to unravel, leading to improved health and well being. Specific physical pains can be addressed, as well as more general or subtle dis-ease. It is essentially about doing nothing, and letting the life force do its work. It is the most powerful tool we have, and is often more about having the confidence to tune in to what a person needs.
